====== NORMENT data access policy======

  * Before accessing our data on TSD, confirm your inclusion in the appropriate IRB (REK) 
  * Use of the individual-level data is strictly limited to academic research. Do not attempt an identification of the individual subjects
  * Ensure that your data is used in compliance with local ethics guidelines, and is not used for any other purpose or in any way other than the participants have consented to
  * Read and adhere to terms in agreements with any external information providers, such as registry owners, or partners at other institutions
  * Contact the dedicated users in your CRU for export of non-sensitive data. TSD users without TSD export rights must not use other means of exporting (e.g. taking screenshots) to export sensitive data. Review [[tsd_import_export|this page]] for more information.
  * Follow the procedures described at NORMENT intranet and the NORMENT wiki
  * Report any questions or concerns regarding data access to your immediate supervisor


===== Other guidelines ====

  * When using of the data from summary statistics inventory, or derived data such as polygenic risk scores, the investigator must ensure that he is either using publicly available data, or have approval from our collaborators who provided the data. For all summary statistics, both public and through collaboration, investigator must ensure that the original publications are properly cited.
  * In order to use UK Biobank data, the investigator must be enlisted in NORMENT UK Biobank Application. Note that the user of the data is responsible for checking and excluding from the analysis all participants who withdraw their consent.
  * Users may login to TSD from their personal laptops, also when working on a public WiFi
  * It is OK to take TSD screenshots containing, provided that they are strictly limited to non-sensitive data - including figures and tables, intended for presentation or publication

Tips on what you should think about when processing and organizing research data:

  * Take care to sort/delete as your work progresses
  * Create good and understandable file names
  * Date the file when the data is obtained
  * Describe/log in brief what is done with the data
  * What types/version of software is being used in the process
